Finding Beauty
I belive that I am a very fortunate person. Not because I have lots of money or have many friends who adores me. I am simply fortunate that I can find beauty in everyone and every places. Beleive me that I wasn’t bor that way. It’s more like that I had thought myself that way. When I see minature flowers comng out in snow fields, or a small butterflies whose life is extended only a day. A brand new sprouting leaves after the freezing nights, I wondered how powerful and magical life really is! It doesn’t have to be prestine day to makes me wonder. Actually, I find stormy weather and violent lightenings all around me much more energizing to my cores. Many days of unpredicting weather in Colorado mountainhikes that I have been pelted by hale storms, or beat up by heavy rains. The world looks entirely different in those times. It’s silly but I find beauties, in distorted it maybe.
I also wonder about people of all different races, colors, different economic backgrounds. I see beauty in everyone. Please don’t misunderstand that I may think everyone is good or bad. I just find that we are interesting and vulnerable creatures. We all have had some degree of trauma and injuries. And yet, some use their trauma to teach them a greater life lesson or help people who are experiencing similar pain. On the other hand, many blame the person who had inflicted the traumas and turn theirs and become a tree that propels poisons. Nevertheless, there is beauty all around us.
We all have big but heavy responsibilities because what we do daily affects everyone around us in small and large ways. That’s the butterfly effect, right? We are energetic beings. Our body is a container of energy. We eat food to get more energy. We exercise to promote better energy usage. When we eat irresponsibly, such as only eating fast foods or not moving body parts enough, our bodies become unbalanced and tend to break down. It’s straightforward, really. We don’t have to convert into a vegan or running marathons. To stay healthy, we want to move our body. Eating healthy and healthy foods promotes more energy. Over-processed food is like putting dirty oil in your car. It will clog your system. It’s all about maintaining energy levels in our system so that the body will cooperate with you.
We have mind, body, and spirit. Most people understand the mind and body parts, but some find the spirit aspect confusing. Spirit doesn’t mean singularity soul; it also means feelings, mindsets, unconscious self-talk, unconsciousness, and egoic self. Sprit aspects cover a wide variety of functions.
In one sense, Spirit aspects have more essential roles in our lives. An incredible example is the parasympathetic response vs. the sympathetic response. A single incident’s hormonal reactions can benefit our mind and body or poison us when our base instinct kicks in. We often get to choose one thing or the other. When we are reactive to other people’s actions, we automatically trigger sympathetic responses. Practicing mindfulness can change the reactive response into a parasympathetic—a feel-good hormone response. A simple illustration is: I’m walking on a street that’s not too busy. A person from the opposite direction looked down at his phone and hit me with his shoulder without apppology. I have an opportunity to get upset or become mindful. I have the choice to trigger a sympathetic response. What do I get for getting upset? Once the hormone is triggered, it will last a good long while. I don’t know what he was engrossed in his phone, possibly terrible news? I can choose to breathe deeply. And I can think about the joy of choosing another path. The parasympathetic response will be immediate, and I’ll feel good for the rest of my day. That’s the beauty of life! I can’t change other people, but I can change my response to everything in my life.
